48 venues, 20 owners. 7 of those owners run more than one market in this set: Euronext N.V. (Euronext, Borsa Italiana, Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Brussels, Euronext Lisbon, Euronext Dublin, Oslo Børs); NASDAQ (Nasdaq Stock Market, Nasdaq Stockholm (OMX Stockholm), Nasdaq Copenhagen, Nasdaq Helsinki); INTERCONTINENTAL EXCHANGE (New York Stock Exchange, ICE Futures U.S., ICE Futures Europe); CME GROUP INC. (CME Group (Chicago Mercantile Exchange), Chicago Board of Trade, New York Mercantile Exchange); HONG KONG EXCHANGES AND CLEARING LIMITED (Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, London Metal Exchange); Deutsche Börse Aktiengesellschaft (Deutsche Börse Xetra, Eurex Deutschland); SIX Group AG (SIX Swiss Exchange, Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME)). The ownership chain on each venue page comes from GLEIF’s own parent relationships, not from a name that looks right — the entity that legally operates a market is frequently not the one it trades under. No owner is resolvable for Shenzhen Stock Exchange, which publishes no LEI.
15 of those owners are themselves listed companies, and 13 of them trade on a market they run. The exceptions are worth naming: BSE LIMITED lists on XNSE, and CME GROUP INC. lists on XNAS — in the Indian case because the rules do not let an exchange supervise trading in its own shares. 5 are not listed at all — a state-run non-profit, a members’ company, a bank consortium, and one whose shares change hands privately while its listing waits on the regulator. Ownership caps are close to universal here — by statute in Japan, by regulatory order in Canada, by charter in the United States and Australia — so an exchange is one of the few businesses nobody is allowed to buy outright.
MIC codes (operating and segment) verified against the official ISO 10383 registry; operator LEIs from GLEIF; session hours compiled from each venue's published trading calendar and cross-checked against two independently maintained open-source exchange calendars, with the result of that check shown on every venue page. Instrument classes are derived from the venue's own segment MICs, not assumed. Provenance.
